What is sermorelin?
Sermorelin copies part of the signal that prompts the pituitary gland, a small gland located below the brain, to release growth hormone. Growth hormone is a body signal involved in growth.
It is a signal to that gland rather than growth hormone supplied from outside the body.

Sermorelin (Geref) once had FDA approval for a hormone test and for growth failure in children with a growth hormone shortage.

As of September 2026, no sermorelin product with FDA approval is marketed in the US.
As of September 2026, a licensed pharmacy may make sermorelin acetate for a patient with a prescription if the ingredient and pharmacy meet the required rules. “Acetate” identifies the version of the drug ingredient used in the old approved medicine, rather than an extra treatment. The prescription and licence alone do not prove that every rule is met. The pharmacy-made medicine does not have the old product’s approval.
